How To Find An Auto Junk Yard To Purchase Your Junk Car

by Celina Freeman

If you have a vehicle that is too old to keep going, or that is totaled, and you don't want to fix it up, you have a junk car on your hands. In order to get rid of your junk car, and hopefully make a little money in the process, you need to find an auto junkyard that will take your vehicle.

Start with a Quick Google Search

To start off your search for the right auto junkyard for your vehicle, just go a quick Google search. You are going to want to search for auto junkyards near you, as well as reviews of auto junkyards near you. Not all junkyards are the same; some may offer you more value for your vehicle and help you get the vehicle to their junkyard, and other junkyards may not offer you as much or give you as much help with getting rid of your vehicle. Looking up junkyards near you and diving into the reviews will help you determine the junkyards you want to learn more about.

Find Out What Vehicles They Accept

Once you have a short list of auto junkyards in your area, you are going to want to dig deeper into their websites or give them a call and see what type of vehicles they accept. Don't assume that the junkyard is interested in your vehicle. Some junkyards only recycle domestic vehicles, others only work with foreign vehicles, and some only accept junk vehicles from specific manufacturers. Junkyards don't necessarily accept all vehicles because their secondary business is selling the parts from your vehicle, and a junkyard can position and market themselves better if they cater to a specific market.

Ask About Pick-Up Services

More often than not, when you are selling a junk vehicle, you are selling a vehicle that is not safe to drive anymore, or that literally can't start up and be driven. In that case, you are going to need to have the vehicle towed to the junkyard.

Paying to tow the vehicle yourself can really eat into the profit you will make from your junk vehicle. To get the best return on your investment, and to reduce the amount of money that has to come out of your own pocket, find a junkyard that will tow or pick up your vehicle for free, without reducing the money you will get for the vehicle.

Always Get a Quote

Finally, before you have the junkyard pick up your vehicle, get a quote for the vehicle. You want to get a non-obligatory quote if possible. A non-obligatory quote means that you can either accept or deny the quote, but if you accept the quote, they will give you the full quoted amount. Always get the quote and the payment in writing before you hand over your vehicle to the junkyard.

When it comes to finding an auto junkyard to take your damaged vehicle, start with a quick Google search of junkyards in your area, then call a few and find out what vehicles they accept, if they offer pick-up services, and what they will offer you for your vehicle. Use that information to choose the best auto junkyard for your vehicle needs.

About Me

Creating A Better Car Interior

For years, I thought about ways to get my car a little cleaner. I was really frustrated with how my children kept the car, so I started thinking about ways that I could make a difference. I started asking them to keep toys and food out of the car, and then I worked on honing my own habits to prevent car-related messes. Although it was a little difficult at first, I quickly got into the habit of taking care of my vehicle, and it really paid off when it came time to trade in the car. Check out this blog for tips on car care.
